Royal Brighton Yacht Club

Women's Sailing
Welcome aboard
Whether you are a novice keen to learn to sail or a more experienced sailor looking to challenge yourself further on the water, we have plenty of openings for you.
RBYC has a very active women’s sailing program with over 100 women regularly participating in events with both mixed and women only crews. Over recent years we have had an increasing number of women boat owners and skippers. We have a strong mentoring and buddy program to make you feel welcome at the club as well as opportunities for further training, both off and on water.
If adrenalin and action are what you are looking for then try racing. If perhaps sailing socially or twilight cruising sound more like your style then RBYC have the answer. Alternatively, for those more interested in the technical component then consider assisting with Race Management or organising social events.
We host many social functions through the year to encourage women sailors to network and enjoy the benefits of RBYC sailing experience.
Live the dream! Come down and give it a go.

Port Phillip Women's Championship Series
This new series has been designed to get more Lady Skippers on the Bay participating in competitive keelboat racing at neighbouring yacht club events.
The Yachting Victoria Women and Girls in Sailing Committee which meets regularly at the Squadron, has devised a Series, incorporating the various Lady Skippers races that already occur at the five top-of-the-bay clubs.
The Port Phillip Women's Championship Series consists of the following races:
17 February 2013 RMYS Jennifer Goldsmith Lady Skipper’s race
24 February 2013 RYCV Lady Skipper’s Race
7 April 2013 SYC Day 2 WISC Regatta
21 April 2013 HBYC Lady Skipper’s Race
26 May 2013 BLiSS Sunday Race
Participants can enter all five races, but three races will count in the overall winner.
While each race requires a “lady skipper”, in order to encourage female participation, there will be additional prizes for yachts with more than 50% female crew.
Watch this space for the Notice of Race and more details.
This new series is being launched in the Harbour Room at the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron on Friday, 18th January 2013 at 6.30pm. If you are interested in learning more about this series then please RSVP and attend the launch.
