Racing News


Twilights  - Last nights ominous thunderclouds and white caps went as fast as they came leaving us with a dying breeze towards the end. Yet again we had a new winner - Still Sweet Revenge skippered by Michael Fortune. Click here for the results. Don't mean to nag but...don't race with an anchor on the bow and stay clear of the start line until it's your turn to start. Thank you.

Race Information Night - Phil Bedlington is conducting another classroom session for those wanting to learn more about improving their racing skills. If you have any questions on tuning your boat, rules or even on the racing format at RBYC - do yourself a favour and turn up tomorrow night at 7:30pm. Hey, it's free so why not?

RBYC Racing Group - The first of the racing group meetings will be conducted during Phil's Race class tomorrow night. Stay tuned for further details...

This weekends race program


Divisional: -

York Syme Trophy (IRC) - This is a medium distance race (up to 25nm) starting off the Race Tower at 1100 hrs. The trophy is raced on IRC Handicap, however this race also forms part of the PHD and AMS aggregates.

The Ingenue Cruisers PHD race - ideal for those without an AMS or IRC rating.  Your start will be 5 minutes after the York Syme start. Entrants so far include:

Currawong, Fantastique, Watershed, Rampallion, Redline and Avanti. Please notify the office if you are intending to race in this event. Email Scott sailing@rbyc.org.au

Shipping Information - There will be little traffic in the channel until 1430 hrs on Saturday, when the Post Panamax sized ship, Maersk Miami is expected to be progressing down the channel.

You are instructed to monitor VHF Channel 12 whilst navigating in close proximity to Commercial shipping.

Spring Pursuit Race 6 - Roger Incledon will be out to protect his lead so far in this series.  There are a number of boats hot on his heals so the competition is on. Remember, we're not racing for sheep stations this time,  we are racing for coffee machines!

RACE INFORMATION NIGHT - 30th November 2007
The next class will be on the Friday night 30th Nov 2007. Start time 7:30pm in the Olympic Lounge.These free education sessions are provided by one RBYC's most seasoned skippers, Phil Bedlington. Please feel welcome to attend. If you want to get into racing, but a little apprehensive, then this course is designed for you. Please come along.

TWILIGHT RACING - Race 6 this Wednesday
The fifth race of the 8 race Spring Series is on Wednesday 5th Dec 07 at 6:15pm followed by dinner in the Bayview Room.
