TWILIGHTS - We've had some great racing weather for this series and last night was no exception. A warm 18 knot Southerly provided another great race with the tiny trailer-sailer Super Freaky to take 1st place. The sixth winner in 6 races. Good to see new comer Wide Load out last night sporting her new look. One boat too watch.

RBYC had more boats entered in the Latitude Races than any other club.
The boats competing from RBYC were Folie a Deux, Magazan 53, Ninety Seven and Slice of Heaven.
In the Out the Heads and back race results were:
1st Magazan 53 B353 finishing 18 minutes ahead of 2nd Slice of Heaven
B129 with Ninety Seven 7th and Folie a Deux 8th. (Mrs Overnewtown crossed the line ahead of Magazan but had turned at the wrong Latitude and was recalculated to 9th).
In the Pursuit race Magazan was 2nd, Slice of Heaven 4th and Folie a Deux 6th (Ninety Seven did not start).
Congratulations to all especially those on their first rip through the Rip.

HOBSON'S BAY 2 HANDED SERIES - RACE 3
Jim Neeson has only recently begun racing 2 up and already has notched up a win in the Hobson's Bay 2 handed series last Sunday, actually 2 wins - PHD and AMS. Jim has already entered Girt By Sea in the RBYC 2 Handed race this Sunday and should do pretty well.

YORK SYME TROPHY (IRC)
Just a Minor Hickup seems to be on a good thing now, winning the E.B. Green trophy recently and now the York Syme last Saturday. However the real surprise had to have been Ken Karn's Karnival coming in just 2 minutes behind JAMHU. Has Ken finally mastered his latest aquisition? It is also worth noting that Girt By Sea came 1st in PHD and AMS here as well. Not bad going Jim!

ETCHELLS - FOOTLOOSE TROPHY
Couldn't help not mention Past Commodore David Atkinson's efforts in the current Etchells series, 5 points ahead of everbody else. We shall know after racing this Saturday if he manages to take the series.
INGENUE CRUISER PHD RACE 1
The first of this new series was run and won last Saturday by Mirrabooka.finishing streets ahead of the rest. This fleet started 5 minutes after the York Syme race and enjoyed the same perfect conditions getting them around the same course in good time. The next race won't be until March 3 2008 in conjunction with the Worane race.

RACE CLASS - Last Friday
Phil Bedlington had a number of keen novices at the race class last Friday. They covered topics such as rounding techniques, starting procedures, berthing, identifying flags etc. Well worth attending if you're not too familiar with racing and by the number of boats getting disqualified lately I'd say there are more novices than we realise. Next class isn't until February 29th 2008. Phil will be busy racing in the Melbourne to Hobart and Skandia Geelong Week.
SAFETY STICKERS - If you haven't already got a safety sticker for your boat, there are still some left in the office.
CREW WANTED AND AVAILABLE - Click here.
USE OF ENGINES - Boat owners are reminded that strictly in accordance with the ISAF rules (Blue Book) boats must disengage their motors within 4 minutes of the official starting time (i.e. when the 'P' flag is raised). However, as this may be thought to disadvantage boats runnning late for their allocated pursuit starting times, your Sailing Committee agrees that this 4 minute rule be extended to apply to "4 Minutes prior to a boat's officially allocated starting time". If you are going to arrive late at the starting time, your only alternative in order to exonerate yourself is to disconnect drive and complete two 360 degree turns behind the line prior to starting. Failure to do this may very well result in your being protested by fellow competitors or disqualified by the Race Committee .
TWO HANDED RACE - FRANK HUTCHINSON TROPHY AND YV PORT PHILLIP TWO HANDED SERIES RACE 3
This Sunday is our 2 handed race originally scheduled to start at 1100hrs however to allow some of the WISC sailors competing down at Sandy at 10am to ab able to sail up and do the 2 handed as well, the start time has now been set at 1400hrs.
