WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON RACING - tomorrow
We had 14 boats out last week for the first Hearne's Heroes Pursuit race for the new series. Andalucia, Sun Kiss and Conrad were the big winners on the day. Other boats moved up the fleet, but not far enough to worry the leaders.
This week it is a Fleet Start for our intrepid Hearne's Heroes, the 2nd race of the Fleet Start series. The weather forecast is "Southerly winds 15 to 20 knots, tending south to southwest at 20 to 25 knots in the afternoon. Waves around 1 to 1.5 metres." Sounds like a god day to go racing!!
Meet in the Members' Bar, as usual, around 12:30. Hope to see you all out there, and this week, let's have more than 14 boats hitting the start line.

WOMEN'S SAILING
THURSDAY Feb 7th @ 1815hrs - RACE MANAGEMENT SEMINAR
Deb Lloyd, State Race Management Officer, has offered to speak to our group re getting ready for Racing and understanding race management procedures.
Deb sails aboard "Just A Minor Hick Up" as navigator and crew and cruises aboard "Just Because" around the Twilight Pursuits.
This is an excellent opportunity for all girls to improve your racing knowledge and get more out of being on the race course. We encourage you all to attend. It is anticipated that the meeting will run for 1.5hrs. It would assist us if you could please notify Mandy Read at reception@rbyc.org.au of your intention to attend.
Another follow up session is planned in May prior to the RBYC Assosciates Cup Race on Sunday May 25th.
We encourage all lady skippers and crew to come along.
SATURDAY Feb 2 @1410hrs - DRAGONS LADY SKIPPER'S RACE
Thanks to the RBYC Dragon fleet for once again hosting a Lady Skipper's Race. In perfect summer conditions, close racing saw Judith Lyons steer Beverley II to victory, closely followed by Pia McGorlick skippering Lyla, only 37 secs behind. Hot on Lyla's heels and only 59 secs back, Annina Varella aboard Amazing Grace dead heated with Judy Cook, a regular crew member on Tarakona for equal third place. Charlie Knezic took the helm on Gryphon but the crew were unfortunate not to finish the race.
Congratulations to the enthusiastic bunch of girls who put their hands up to having a go at skippering these thoroughbred racing boats and a heartfelt thank you to the generous Dragon owners for having us aboard once again. We look forward to further racing with you in the future.
