LAST SATURDAY'S RESULTS

From all accounts it was a well run Range Race thanks to all those involved in our race management team. As that Range Race formed part of the our Division Aggregate, the following yachts won their respective divisional trophies:-

Div 1 Edwards Cup - B26 Reverie (Alan Woodward)

Div 2 Secours Trophy - B6324 Where's Wal? (Roger Jepson)

Div 3 Alee Cup - B143 Double Malt (Warren Parker)

The Dragon's raced for their Richardson Cup on Saturday and Mark Woodland on 'Lyla' won it this year. Click here for full results

The course was a little different for the One Designs, but all seemed to go well enough around the Home Course. Etchells Results and Jubilee Results

Lady Nelson Trophy (Overnighter) starts this Friday 15th February at 1900 hrs.

This is the biggie and there is still time to enter. Just send me your entry by email sailing@rbyc.org.au

This year the course has had to be modified a little to keep out of the road of the dredging but the overall length of the course is the same as last year.

The Lady Nelson Trophy is based on IRC handicap while the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy is based on AMS handicap. There will be a PHD result too, but no trophy I'm afraid.

Both of these trophies can be won by non RBYC boats and have their names engraved on them, but don't count on taking them home with you.

Although the weather doesn't seem to be as warm as last year, it will still offer perfect sailing conditions. Click here for latest forecast.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON RACING - tomorrow

Eleven boats were on the start line for the second Fleet start of our current series last week. With a W-SW wind of less than predicted strength, the Tower crew sent us off on Course 4 to RBYC Mark 2. The bulk of the fleet took the scenic route past the bathing boxes whilst Hot Shot and Ingenue went West towards the vague thunderclouds on the horizon and arrived at the weather mark ahead of the fleet with Avanti hot on their heels. Over the course of the afternoon, the wind built from 6kn to 18kn whilst lazy grey thunderclouds danced around us but did not venture any closer. At the end of the day, the fleet had split into the larger boats in the front group and the smaller boats enjoying their own race within a race further back.

Avanti led the fleet across the finish line closely followed by the next six boats, all finishing within 7mins. Eight minutes later, Y-knot led the charge of the remaining four boats in the fleet, who all completed the course within less than 4mins of each other. A fabulous day's racing with some real competition amongst the fleet.

At the end of the day, with handicaps applied, Andalucia again took out the honours, followed by Vintage Burgundy with Tim Cormack at the helm and Hot Shot in third place. A good spread of results across the fleet.

Tomorrow is shaping up for some good racing with a predicted Southerly wind

15 to 20 knots. Waves around 1 metre. PURSUIT START so click here for your start times.

See you on the water.

TWILIGHT RACE 5 - tomorrow

You didn't hear it from me, but Merella Curtis, female skipper extraordinaire is about to make her first boat purchase with the intention to race.

There is also talk of a Volvo 60 joining our fleet..but I didn't say that.

OFF THE BEACH RACING - this Sunday

Another combined fleet race this Sunday starting at 1400 hrs from the 'Ferry'. PRO will be Manuela Galvao. Sabot's, Cadet's, Lasers, 29ers & Flying 15's are encouraged to participate. There will be a pre-race briefing at the Jock Sturrock building at 1230 hrs.

ACCESS DINGHY STATE TITLES

We will be joined by about 20 Access dinghies this weekend, conducting their state titles. The PRO will be our own Deborah Lloyd with the assistance of our Jubilee and Dragon sailors. I'm sure you'll recognise these colourful little boats when you see them. They will be launching from the Hardstand so please be mindful of that particularly on Saturday.
