Last weekend saw a fantastic turnout for the annual Top of the Bay Regatta, we had sunshine, clear skies and enthusiastic entrants...all that was lacking was the wind. For hours and what must have felt like an eternity boats bobbed around waiting for the postponement to be over, and eventually it was. One race was ran on the 1st day...competitors hoped for more the next!
Sunday arrived and in the morning it appeared that all would be ok, Race Management was armed with a weather report that looked promising with approximately 10knots forecasted, unfortunately by the time officials and competitors made it out on the water the wind had other ideas and went into hiding. 0Knts was registered at Fawkner beacon and seemed like it would never appear again, however by 1230hrs the first race was under-way and there was just enough wind to get the 2 races scheduled for the day in. Sailors returned to the clubhouse tired and weary from a long day out on the water. Presentations were soon under-way and RBYC's Just a Minor Hickup cleaned up the IRC Division 1 even winning the Port Phillip IRC Championship for all results click here
Monday's Slam 1000 was also a complete success with many competitors commenting on the interesting race format, thankfully wind came out for the occassion too and competitors filled the bar at a more respectable hour for prizes and all important beverages. Clipper III took home the $1000 cash and appeared to have smiles all around!
There will be racing on this weekend
Centre Course: 1400hrs back to back racing for: Etchells, Dragons and Jubilees - non aggregate
Tower Start: 1000hrs - GE Duncan's and B Class Trophy 1400hrs - Combined Division Pursuit - non-aggregate
Please note there is no racing on Easter Weekend
