RBYC Racing News

Weekend Racing

After an exciting storm with mass destruction earlier in the week, the weekend went the other extreme with range race 7 postponed untill there was enough breeze to hold the flags up! by 3pm Racing was finally underway. It had felt like an eternity bobing around the water waiting for some wind that looked like was just around the corner every five minutes. It was an exciting race with many close calls around the marks and this didnt stop untill well after the finish. It was a long day however with the last boat not finishing until almost 6pm, by this stage it was getting cold and sunset was approaching. Tarni headed home and by the time results were finalised and ready to be called most sailors had opted to leave for hot showers and dinner.

Hearnes Heroes

Hello All Hearne's Heroes

After being blown out for the last two weeks the forecast is looking good for a fast race with a northerly wind and, at our end of the Bay, slight seas.

The gun will go at 1400hrs for a PURSUIT START this week.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast for Port Phillip is as follows:- Wednesday Northerly winds 15 to 20 knots, reaching 25 knots for a period during the morning. Wind easing to 10 to 15 knots at night. Waves mostly around 1 metre.

NOTICE TO PEN RENTERS/BOAT OWNERES

It was a timely reminder last week with the storm that came through Melbourne to all boat owners to regularly check pen lines and keep up with routine maintenance. At Royal Brighton Yacht Club we were very fortunate not to have any major disasters. it was found however that not all lines and boats were tied up correctly. luckily these faults were picked up by Robstan quickly before any huge loss or damage was sustained. Things to look out for include: frayed or stretched lines, lines rubbing on parts of the boat - ie anchors that it shouldn't be etc...If required Robstan are there for you to employ and have your boat and lines assesed for safety to protect your boat against any more squally weather likely to be encountered over the Winter Season.
