THE ICEBERGERS - A Photographic Essay by Jason Sammon
Opening Night: Thursday 24th July, 6pm - 8pm Exhibition: Friday 25th July - Tuesday 12th August
Blending images taken underwater with land based images, this photographic essay on the Middle Brighton Baths ‘The Icebergers’ portrays a remarkable slice of local history. The morning routine of plunging into Port Phillip Bay, all year round, on warm and icy days alike, is a concept most would shudder at. A small selection of Jason’s other work is also included; from the heights of the Himalaya to the coastland of Sri Lanka. Jason Sammon graduated from RMIT Photography in 1997 and has worked as a photographer at Leader Newspapers for 15 years. People have always been a focus of his work and capturing the poetry of peoples lives an endearing driving force to seek out new moments which give insight into who we are.
