RBYC Racing News

Last Week of Racing!

Saturday:

Winter Pursuit R11 - it was a glorious day on Saturday, the sun was shining and a solid consistant breeze of 15knots was present at the start of the race. I was surprised to only see 12 boats competing for the day given the rarity of sunny winter days with wind!

Most racers got off to a great start the quickest of the day - Flying fox crossing the start line 1 second after their allocated start. If you would like to know your start time please email sailing@rbyc.org.au with boat name and sail no.

As well as the usual competitors a flying 15 decided to grace the fleets presence and try and give the regular racers a run for their money (alas this was to no avail but we look forward seeing more action from the flying 15s with the weather improving and encourage their participation especially if they would like to continue to take last place). 3 boats decided to fly spinnakers however I am still unsure if this was a good decision considering none of those that did, did very well.

Congratulations for the day go to Kingurra Peter Joubert click here for full results.

Wednesday:

Hearnes Pursuit Race - 6th August 2008 Well done to B67 Hotshot - Graham Noel winner for the day and winner of the best start! click here for race results It was a nice afternoon on Wednesday although it was a pity there wasnt much wind out and being variable is never fun, especially for the Race Officers!

On Wednesday we also had a representative out from Audi Centre Brighton which is great to see. Hopefully we will be seeing a lot more of Sarah and with all the sailing offers that were flooding in I think it will be hard for her to say no! stay tuned next week for a fleet start!

Sunday August 31 - There are still a few spots left for the duck driving course to assist with Race Management. It will be a very practical course with some theory involved showing proper methods on approaching larger boats, moving buoys and laying start lines if interested please call sarah in the office 9592 3092 or email sailing@rbyc.org.au
