INGENUE on the way home!
Greetings!
Well we are on our way for the final leg of the journey home. After a protracted pitstop of 4 days waiting for the storms in Bass Strait to pass into the Tasman Sea, we departed Bermagui Wednesday 0630hrs on the rising tide and headed south towards Gabo Island, picking up a gentle 10-15kn SW breeze. Seas are flat, sun is shining but the air is still crisp. Forecast for later today is for the wind to shift E and N so we are hopeful for a warm pleasant ride in flat water across the paddock to Wilson's Prom.
Progress may be slowed beyond the Prom to Port Phillip heads due to the forecast NW in a few days time, but planned ETA RBYC is still sometime Saturday.
All well aboard and we have been enjoying the delights of Bermagui during our stay. Great seafood restaurant at the end of the jetty, good patisserie with great cakes and coffee and a fabulous expanded butcher / deli with excellent meat, seafood, local cheese, antipasto and ready made meals to take away. We sampled the leek and chicken pies which were fantastic.
Scenery is fabulous with rocky cliffs, rockpools, sandy beaches and all looked over by the majestic Mt Dromedary. The town is walking distance from the wharf and all jetties have fuel and water available. LPG can be purchased at the Caltex service station as "swap 'n go" or the hardware will refill stainless steel bottles. The local fishos are very friendly and helpful. At $15 per night for wharfage, it's a steal!
No trip to Bermagui would be complete without a viewing of the movie "The Man Who Sued God" and we have laughed ourselves silly watching Billy Connolly's antics and his much smarter dog Arthur. Having watched the movie, we were very careful not to tie up in the middle of the harbour because now we know that is where the lightning strikes!
Look forward to seeing you all very soon, Cheers, David, Rosie & Mavis
