LAST WEEK OF RACING!

Saturday 4th October 2008 - Season OPENING DAY! It couldn't have been a nicer opening day this year the sun was shining and a nice light breeze was present. It was perfect conditions for the fair weather sailors that ventured out for the first time since last summer! The opening day ceremony went relatively smoothly with the exception of a slight flag malfunction that was quickly rectified - well done to all envolved. Out on the water the day just kept getting better with many boats dressing up in true festive spirit. The Sail past was of course followed by the traditional 'Fun Pursuit Race' Winning for the day was Chris Bland on The Works B5747 click here for full results. After the on-water activites concluded everyone headed back to the bar for some musical entertainment and sausage sizzle from the looks of many at the WISC practice on Sunday it had been a very big night for some.

Wednesday 8th October 2008 - Hearnes Heroes - Fleet Start! With the release of new Sailing Instructions some confusion was caused in regards to the finishing direction of boats - PRO Harry Tedstone declared after everyone had returned to shore that no one had actually finished racing and everyone was being scored DNF, after much abuse the matter was brought before a Panel and the decision was made to let the race stand for scoring even though everyone finished incorrectly! for full details see below.
