Last Week of Racing:
Saturday 8th Nov 2008:
It started out to be a good sailing day out on the bay, not much sunshine around but a strong breeze present. Many had hopes it would be consistant throughout the day. Alas this was not the case, many boats were finishing or in the latter part of their race when a massive front came in and almost knocked the everyone flat! winds of up to 35knts were registered in the tower and witnesses saw many boats deciding to retire from the race and take shelter in the marina!
Centre Course HBYC hosted Race 2 of the RYCV Range Race which was very well attended, congratulations to Reverie D1 - 4th in IRC & Just a Minor Hickup D1 - 2nd in PHD click here for race results. Etchells/Dragons/Jubilees also ventured out for the day with the Etchells making use of the last race day before world qualifyers! click here for one design results
Home Course The Brighton Coffee Machines Artemis Pursuit race was an interesting one with course #11 chosen competitors were tested on their knowledge of the new RBYC Sailing Instructions and their application. Unfortunately many chickened out after the large gusts of wind hit and retired from racing (a reminder to all - please radio the tower when retiring don't assume you have been spotted - a wave as you motor pass does not count either!) In the end 3 boats finished correctly well done to Rusulka winning for the day click here for results.
Safety Stickers
are ready for collection! if you have not already picked your sticker up please head to the office and ask for it. All competitors are reminded that stickers are required to be displayed on the transom of your boat in all racing events
