Online Entry - A reminder for all those intending to enter their boats in RBYC races this season, the way to do it is via the RBYC website. Click here. You will need A. Your sail number B. Your Yachting Australia number. If you have any problems, contact your Sailing Administrator on 9592 3092 or sailing@rbyc.org.au.
High Flyers Winner - Our first winner of this inaugural series is Ted Masur with his yacht 'Y Knot'. Ted seems to have found the groove and has already won the last Heane's Heroes PHD series and now adds this one under his belt. A boat to watch this season. However, the High Flyers Series will no longer be run on Wednesday's. Instead it will be run on alternate Saturday's during this coming season.
Saturday Winter Pursuits - The number of competing boats keeps growing and we expect another 2 or 3 to join in this Saturday. Please note that it is a requirement for each yacht to call the RBYC Race Tower to inform whether or not they intend to sail with extras. This must be done well before the start of the race. The penalty for not complying is 65,000% of your elapsed time being added on.
Trophies to be picked up - We have trophies from away club races at the RBYC office for 'Schuss' and 'Rush'.
Sabots - The Sabot Program greatly appreciates the help of our volunteers during the sailing season and we know that many of you will continue to help next season. As you are aware, the RBYC Sabot Program is an accredited Yachting Australia Training Centre, which means that our program meets certain standards in relation to coaching and facilities, etc. If you intend to help the Sabot Program next year, we would like you to consider attending the YA Assistant Instructors Course This course focuses on the skills to assist a qualified Yachting Australia Instructor in delivering training. That is, it is for those who wish to help others who are instructing . This course is run over one Sunday between 10am – 4.00pm and covers a range of topics including the roles and responsibilities, planning, communication and duty of care. Yachting Victoria will be conducting their next Assistant Instructors course on 26 July 2009. You can get more information on the YV website. http://www.yachtingvictoria.com.au/calendar/yv.asp We hope that a number of the regular volunteers, particularly the Pacer skippers and rescue boat helpers, attend this course. If you enrol, please let us know so that we can note your qualification for next season. If you need further information please let me know. Best regards, Tony

Tip for the Week - Your mobile phone can actually be a lifesaver or an emergency tool for survival.
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112.
If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you and interestingly this number 112 can be dialled even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.
